Community Projects
In 1997/1998 Venerable Lama Ngawang Tsultrim Rinpoche saw the need for a School in the Tolu Tharling Monastery area so he built a completely new School which is about 2 hours walking distance from the Monastery to educate local Children. The area where the School is located is called Shardingma in the Sherpa language and it is called Nalidanda in Nepalese. It is in the Siddhicharan Municipality in ward #6 in the Okaldhungha district.
Rinpoche had been saving money for many years to learn better English but he felt that his english was good enough and that the Children needed a School more so he decided to build one close by so they would not have to walk for miles in dangerous conditions during monsoon season, crossing rivers and having to be wary of wild animals such as Bears who frequent the area. Rinpoche saw the local School as a much better and safer option for the local Mountain Children. It was named Tolu Gompa School and is still running today.
Rinpoche has also helped many other People in need over the years through education and financially. We hope to continue this work in the future π

The day before Rinpoche left in July 2022 following his very 1st visit to Aotearoa he very kindly bestowed upon me the Refuge, Bodhichitta and Upasaka Vows along with lungs for the Shower of Blessings, Tara, Konchok Chidu and Shitro π
He had gifted me his Zen just before our 1st event and I was so shocked and happy I almost cried and for once I was actually speechless hehe...
I only wear my Zen for Teachings and sometimes I do wonder if I deserve it at all but for me it is an outward reflection of what is inside, although I don't believe that we need truly need robes or titles in order to display this, I am incredibly grateful always!
I am eternally grateful for the supreme kindness and patience of our most precious Teacher π

About us πππΏ
Dhongak Tharling International has Buddhist Centres with various locations worldwide including New-Zealand, and New Orleans. We also have Tolu Tharling Monastery in the Everest region of Nepal. Our head Teacher, Venerable Lama Ngawang Tsultrim Rinpoche offers various Teachings based on the Nyingmapa lineage but holds teachings from all four lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. Isobel Baxter is a Student of Rinpoches and the Secretary for Dhongak Tharling Aotearoa.
About Rinpoche through the eyes of a Student;
Rinpoche is a humble and down to earth Teacher. He is friendly and approchable, always has a smile and is ready for a laugh. Rinpoche only wears his robes for Teachings and prefers to be just like the rest of us (but of course, he is not...) One is never quite sure what might happen next in the presence of Rinpoche but it is rarely boring and such an adventure!
When it comes to Teachings Rinpoche is gentle with Students but when pressed has a no nonsense, grounded and authentic approach! Basically, he will tell you off if needed but then perhaps that it is just the rebel Students such as I! Rinpoche reminds me often that everything is a Teaching and can be considered a practice. Rinpoche has a huge heart and deep compassion. I and I know many others, are incredibly grateful for Venerable Lama Ngawang Tsultrim Rinpoches presence in our lives.
Thank you for everything dear Rinpoche πΉ

A huge thanks and so much gratitude to all of those who have supported Rinpoche in many ways over the years, great or small, there is no difference in the appreciation and love that he has for each and everyone of you! We will continue to keep you all in our Prayers π

There is more to add so please check for updates. Please ensure you apply the correct view when checking out our new website...as in bottom right...otherwise it may appear slightly skew whiff like its creator lol. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
Aroha mai. Aroha atu. Love given is love received.
